Fern Perera

About

Violinist and Composer, Fernanda Perera, known as Fern Perera, graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a bachelor's degree in Composition.

Born in San Francisco, Fernanda grew up in Tokyo, Japan where she acquired skills in her musicianship under the instruction of Chihiro Inda at the age of seven.

Fernanda's sweet, gentle, and mild tone was praised by audiences including judges from the Osaka International Music Competition. Her love and passion for orchestral music provided many opportunities and experiences, such as being a member of the Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society, concertmistress at the Putney School Chamber Orchestra, member of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, Berklee Film and Viedo game Scoring Orchestra, and many string ensembles.

Since Berklee, Fernanda diversified herself beyond genres through collaboration and performing with students and artists from various backgrounds. Along with her passion for classical music, her ambition towards discovering new music has opened up many opportunities to experiment with the color and sound of her instrument and string writing.

In Los Angeles, she went on tour with Sloppy Jane Band and Phoebe Bridgers, cohosted a house show series 'Girlies Singing', and recorded and collaborated with various artists worldwide.

Along with the experiences she gained since her enrollment at Berklee, Fernanda seeks to explore more possibilities to expand her musical vocabulary.
